Makin'
Memories
Faye Crump Brydels
wants children to have memories of cooking with their parents.
She says that's why she's published a book with fun and easy
recipes and crafts for youngsters and adults to do together.
The retired high
school home economics teacher took more than two years to
write "Makin'
Memories: Recipes & Crafts for the Whole Family".
The 276-page, spiralbound paperback book's recipes and activities
are divided by holidays and seasons. "Halloween is my
best section," Brydels says. "I love Halloween because
there is so much to do with children." The book also
covers birthday parties, camping, Kwanzaa, Jewish holidays,
Spanish holidays, Saturday morning breakfast, tea parties
and May Day...among other things. The book is illustrated
with both black-and-white and color photographs and provides
numerous step-by-step drawings and patterns.
The book also features
a couple of recipes from "Froggy Bottom: Louisiana Cuisine
- from the hills to the bayous," the cookbook Faye Brydels
and Donna Bolton Jenkins published in 1995.
